The Compass Project in Aberdeen is an inspiring initiative led by the Camphill Wellbeing Trust, transforming the former Waldorf School into a vibrant centre dedicated to healthy, sustainable living.
The site now serves as a community hub, offering workshops, volunteer sessions, product pop-ups, and educational events, all focused on practical sustainability. To support this mission, the Trust required a renewable, efficient, and future-ready heating solution that could meet the demands of the site’s growing activities while embodying the environmental values at its heart.
Transforming the historic school into a modern, low-carbon facility came with unique requirements:
To achieve these goals, the Compass Project installed a cascade Air Source Heat Pump system centred around:
6 × CTC EcoAir 622 Air Source Heat Pumps Controlled by the intelligent CTC EcoLogic L Controller.
This commercial-grade system provides high-efficiency, low-carbon heating, automatically adjusting output to meet real-time demand. The cascade setup ensures that multiple heat pumps work in perfect harmony, sharing load intelligently to deliver consistent comfort while minimising energy consumption.
The CTC EcoLogic L Controller acts as the system’s intelligent core, managing performance across all six heat pumps, optimising defrost cycles, and ensuring peak efficiency throughout the year. To find out more about CTC visit their website at ctc-uk.com.
The Compass Project now benefits from a dependable, efficient, and environmentally conscious heating solution, perfectly aligned with its mission to promote sustainable, healthy living.
